Report: Tre Mason's family concerned about former Auburn RB's mental health

Opelika-Auburn News (AL) - 7/26/2016

The family of Tre Mason is "extremely concerned" with the former Auburn running back's mental well-being.

According to a TMZ report, multiple units from the Palm Beach County Sherriff's Dept. were called to Mason's family home on Saturday - the fifth time such an incident has occurred since March 28.

Mason was not arrested, the report said, and none of the five incidents involved him hurting another person.

His family is reportedly worried about his mental health and personal safety, and the TMZ report said that after one of the incidents, Mason agreed to check into a facility to "resolve the situation."

Mason's first run-in with the law this year came on March 5, when, per reports, the running back was arrested and charged with marijuana possession, reckless driving, resisting arrest and failure to register a motor vehicle. Mason reportedly refused to get out of the car and was eventually subdued with a stun gun.

Later that month, Mason failed to appear in court.

Mason is currently on the roster of the Los Angeles Rams, but he missed OTAs this summer for "personal reasons," per ESPN. The 22-year-old former third-round pick has played two seasons in the NFL, totaling 972 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 254 carries in 25 games.

Mason played for Auburn from 2011-13, topping 1,000 yards in each of his last two seasons and putting together a stellar final campaign when he totaled 1,979 all-purpose yards and 24 touchdowns during the Tigers' march to the BCS Championship.
